Caitlin & James’ Romantic Spring Wedding at The University Club Chicago
In the heart of downtown Chicago, beneath the stunning stained glass windows of The University Club, Caitlin & James celebrated the beginning of their next big journey—marriage. Their May 2019 wedding was filled with joy, elegance, and the kind of love that’s been built through years of exploration and shared experiences.
Who knew that working for a company that conducted adult excursions would be the spark? From coworkers to friends, and eventually partners, their relationship began with daily teamwork and blossomed after a magical holiday party kiss. Since then, they’ve shared not only a life but a deep passion for discovering the world—and each other.
From Snowy Proposals to Lifelong Promises
After years of traveling and growing together, one particularly meaningful moment took place at Caitlin’s parents’ home in Michigan. During a peaceful walk in freshly fallen snow, James asked Caitlin to marry him. That winter proposal was as thoughtful and romantic as the life they’ve built together since.
Memories that Built a Life
Some of Caitlin & James’ favorite shared memories speak volumes about the heart of their relationship. One was a weekend getaway to Nemacolin, a resort outside of Pittsburgh, where they explored, laughed, and got a glimpse into what life together could look like—playful, relaxed, and full of joy. That trip sealed their decision to move in together six months later.
Another unforgettable moment was a fly fishing trip to Punta Allen, Mexico. It was Caitlin’s first time fly fishing, and she embraced it with her usual enthusiasm—reeling in bonefish after bonefish. James saw, once again, the adventurous spirit he fell in love with. Caitlin’s willingness to dive into something new made the experience unforgettable.
A Ceremony Full of Meaning
Their wedding ceremony was as heartfelt and intentional as their love story. One of the most touching elements was the reading they selected: “You Deserve a Love” by Frida Kahlo—a reflection of their deep admiration and respect for one another.
In a deeply symbolic unity ritual, Caitlin & James sealed a beautiful engraved wine box during the ceremony. Inside was a bottle of wine chosen to age gracefully over time, along with letters they had written to each other. This box will remain sealed until their 10th wedding anniversary—when they will open it, reflect on their journey, and toast to a decade of marriage filled with new memories and adventures.
