Exquisite Love at Loft on Lake – Kathryn & Eric
Head west from downtown on Lake Street and right under the El tracks, you will find yourself at Loft on Lake. It is one of the original loft venues for couples to tie the know and has lovely exposed brick walls and a skylight running down the middle of it. This was the setting for Kathryn & Eric’s exquisite wedding in October of 2019.
I first met Kathryn & Eric on a bitter cold January day. But we were quickly warmed up by laughter as they told me about how they met, their proposal, and shared more details about their relationship. It was apparent that family and travel were important to both of them. Each of those are wonderful components to incorporate into a wedding ceremony, which they did.
Besides the beautiful setting, what made Kathryn & Eric’s ceremony so memorable was the number of stories they shared with me. In our in-person meetings and in the short questionnaire that I sent to them, they provided me with great content to include in their ceremony. From riding bikes in Amsterdam, to finishing a New York Times crossword puzzle on a flight home, to visiting family around the US, Kathryn & Eric make adventure together a priority!
They also love good wine. Part of their adventures are to go to wineries. In fact, La Crema Winery is where Eric proposed to Kathryn. So I loved that they took a unity ritual one step farther. Instead of boxing up one wine, they boxed up three different wines to enjoy on three special anniversaries. The first wine was to be opened on their first wedding anniversary – October 26, 2020. (Perhaps it was opened prior to that to get through the pandemic!?) The second bottle is to be opened on their 3rd wedding anniversary in 2022. The final bottle is to be opened on their 5th wedding anniversary in 2024. I’m sure they will have quite a lot of memories to toast to!
Kathryn & Eric, it is my hope the last two years have brought you many blessings and moments of still being impressed by the other. That you have had a wee bit of travel, not too many wine spills, and a deeper love and appreciation of each other.
