Fallin’ in Love at The Ivy Room – Laura & Matt

Nestled amidst the skyscrapers of Chicago is a hidden gem of an events location – The Ivy Room. From the blank space of the main room to the stunning courtyard and the exquisite food from Lettuce Entertain You, this is a wedding location not to be missed. This is where we gathered on a November evening in 2019 for Laura & Matt’s celebration.

Laura & Matt found me through a planner friend, Carolyn Flueckiger. In fact, almost 65% of my couples find me through the referrals of planners. I am so grateful for those friendships that I have fostered through the years. Laura & Matt were looking for a non-religious, simple, and personal ceremony to kick off their celebration. Through our discussions, I was able to bring some of their key moments to life.

One thing that made Laura & Matt’s love story so unique was the time they had been together prior to their wedding day. Through those years, they had already gone through the highest of highs, and the lowest of lows. As I told them, a good marriage is made up of the highs and lows, the ordinary and the extraordinary. The important thing is that they keep choosing each other, and their love, every day. From the foundation that Laura & Matt built before their wedding day, I know they are continuing to choose each other every day in their marriage.

As I look back at their beautiful day, and their beautiful style, I am reminded of those special moments for Laura & Matt. I hope the past four years have brought them many blessings, never settling, working towards the goal to retire early, and enjoying a home filled with laughter.

P.S. – I know everyone loves a good behind the scenes story at weddings, and I have one from Laura & Matt’s. I had a prior commitment before the ceremony, so I arrived at The Ivy Room with my dress to change into. Wouldn’t you know, this would be the night the zipper didn’t want to cooperate. I will never forget Carol from artistrings coming to the rescue in the bathroom and our ensuing struggle to zip up my dress. Lol.
