Hanah & Josh’s Faith-Filled Wedding at the University Club of Chicago

Hanah & Josh celebrated their wedding in March 2022 at the elegant University Club of Chicago. Their ceremony beautifully reflected their personalities—equal parts heartfelt, faith-filled, and full of humor.

How They Met: A Fate-Filled Halloween

Their love story began in 2018 at a Halloween party that neither of them planned on attending. Hanah, dressed as Wednesday Addams, attempted to flirt by daring Josh—Indiana Jones for the night—to win back his drink. Josh cleverly sidestepped by grabbing a new one, leaving Hanah flustered but intrigued.

Despite two awkward first dates (including a lot of football talk that Hanah didn’t quite connect with), the two kept in touch, and something just clicked. Fate, it seems, had other plans—and their love grew stronger with each passing year. Halloween remains special to them, with annual couple costumes keeping the tradition alive.

Our Collaboration

Hanah & Josh embraced our collaboration in creating their wedding ceremony. They both shared amazing details, stories, and hopes about their relationship that helped to craft every section of the ceremony script. Letting me into these moments helped me get to know them more and pushed us past a stranger or strictly work relationship. I was honored with their trust to tell their love story.

A Ceremony Blending Faith & Personality

While Hanah dreamed of a Catholic wedding, they both fell in love with the University Club of Chicago and chose to create a ceremony that honored their faith while reflecting their personalities.

Their chosen readings—Genesis 2:18–24 (“It is not good for the man to be alone…”) and 1 Corinthians 13 (“Love is patient, love is kind…”)—were perfect expressions of their love and commitment.

In a deeply personal touch, Hanah’s grandmother gave a final blessing, followed by everyone reciting the Lord’s Prayer together. To keep their most intimate vows private, Hanah & Josh chose to read them to one another during a quiet first look before the ceremony.
