Jordyn & Ross’ Ivy Room Wedding Ceremony in Chicago

 In Weddings

There’s a certain honor in being asked to officiate any wedding — but when a talented Chicago wedding planner like Jordyn asks you to officiate her own ceremony, it’s an especially meaningful experience. Their September 2021 wedding at The Ivy Room was one I’ll never forget. The courtyard was bursting with floral and fun vibes right in the heart of downtown Chicago.

From Schoolmates to Soulmates

Jordyn and Ross’ love story began long before their engagement. Both grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, attending the same schools, where their story quietly started. They spent years in the same friend group, growing up together, before realizing that the person who had always been there was the one meant to stay forever.

Ross describes Jordyn as “the most positive person I’ve ever met.” And Jordyn says Ross “can make me laugh at any time, and I love that.” That beautiful mix of positivity and humor radiated throughout their ceremony — two people who truly bring out the best in each other.

A Ceremony Rooted in Love, Family, and Meaning

Their ceremony opened with a heartfelt welcome to family and friends — those who’ve shaped their journey and stood by them through laughter and tears. Jordyn and Ross also took a tender moment to honor loved ones who could not be present, especially their grandparents and dear friends Samantha and Jon, who were toasting from afar in Stockholm. It was a reminder that love continues beyond time and distance, and that family — both present and remembered — remains the foundation of every marriage.

I reflected on their journey together — from “Jordyn’s Book of Love” with 41 chapters and 3,000 pages, to the surprise proposal over dinner that brought them to their wedding day. Every chapter had led to this beautiful moment of choosing each other, freely and joyfully.

The Art of a Good Marriage

In my message, I shared one of my favorite readings, “The Art of a Good Marriage” by Wilfred Arlan Peterson, which perfectly fit Jordyn and Ross’ relationship. It’s a reminder that happiness in marriage isn’t something that just happens — it’s something you create together. Their vows and ring exchange echoed that same sentiment: promises of patience, laughter, gratitude, and love without end.

Congratulations, Jordyn & Ross

Jordyn and Ross’ Ivy Room wedding ceremony in Chicago was the perfect blend of elegance, good vibes, and a space overflowing with love. It celebrated not only their love story, but also their families, their shared humor, and the decades-long friendship that blossomed into forever.

Officiating for this wonderful couple — especially for Jordyn, a fellow wedding professional — was such an honor. It was a reminder that even in an industry built on celebration, love always finds new ways to surprise us. Congrats on 4+ years of marriage, Jordyn & Ross!
