Yulia & John’s Morton Arboretum Wedding Ceremony: A Celebration of Soulmates, Adventure & Deep Connection

 In Weddings

On a gentle May afternoon in 2022, surrounded by the lush spring greens of the Morton Arboretum, Yulia and John were married in a ceremony that felt as natural and grounded as their love story itself. As their officiant, I had the joy of guiding their family and friends through a celebration that blended personal storytelling, heartfelt reflections, and the deep connection these two share.

Honoring Their Story – From Grad School to Forever

Early in the ceremony, I shared the story of how their relationship blossomed. What began in an Economics PhD program—iced coffees by the trash cans, late-night conversations, Kingston Mines dates, off-beat adventures like trapezing, and travels across the world—grew into something unmistakably life-changing.

I referenced the reflections they offered me while crafting their ceremony: Yulia describing John as her soulmate, the person whose presence can turn any day around; John sharing that Yulia is simply “his person,” someone who makes life infinitely more joyful, meaningful, and fun. Their words made it clear: they don’t just love each other—they choose each other, again and again.

A Moment for Loved Ones Near & Far

One of the most touching moments in the ceremony came when I invited them to look out at their guests—those who helped shape them, support them, and cheer them on. And we also acknowledged the bittersweet reality that some loved ones, including Yulia’s parents, could not attend due to ongoing travel restrictions. Though oceans apart, they were felt deeply in spirit. That recognition brought a quiet, heartfelt pause to the celebration—a reminder of both resilience and love.

Vows, Rings, and A Promise for All Their Tomorrows

When it came time for their vows, they spoke their promises with steady voices and full hearts. Their ring exchange held special meaning, too—rings as symbols of a love with no beginning and no end, a reminder that even when life gets difficult, they can always polish their connection back to brilliance.

As guests stood for a final blessing, we offered a series of heartfelt hopes for their marriage: that they remain curious and adventurous, that their families grow closer across continents, and that they continue to savor the ordinary moments.

A Celebration for a Lifetime of Love

Yulia and John’s Morton Arboretum wedding ceremony was a beautiful reflection of their relationship—thoughtful, deeply personal, and full of light. Congratulations on 3+ years of marriage, Yulia & John.
