Sara & Chris’ Elegant Ivy Room Wedding in Chicago

 In Weddings

Sara and Chris’ love story began at Michigan State University, where they first met through mutual friends. Fate—and a little New Year’s magic—brought them together again in 2014 when they both joined a group trip to celebrate in Michigan.

Sara was living in Chicago, Chris in Michigan—but that didn’t stop their connection from sparking instantly. What began as a fun, carefree weekend soon turned into something much deeper. They even pretended to be engaged that first night out, just for fun—an inside joke that came full circle five years later when Chris asked Sara to really marry him.

Building a Life Together

For three years, Sara and Chris navigated the challenges of a long-distance relationship, building a strong foundation of friendship and laughter. When Chris finally moved to Chicago, life together felt effortless and full of joy.

Sara shared that she was drawn not only to Chris’s humor and charm, but also his kind, thoughtful nature. “He never forgets the little things,” she said. “Flowers for every small or big anniversary, something thoughtful I’d never even think of. He’s calm and optimistic, the perfect balance to my anxious personality.”

Chris feels the same way about Sara—he describes her as “beautiful, smart, funny, and successful,” someone who lights up every room and fits seamlessly with his friends and family. Together, they push each other to grow, to laugh, and to keep life filled with joy.

The Ivy Room Ceremony

Their wedding day at The Ivy Room in Chicago was a celebration filled with warmth and elegance. Surrounded by family and friends who traveled from all corners of the country, Sara and Chris exchanged heartfelt vows that perfectly captured their story—equal parts humor, sincerity, and love.

The Ivy Room’s lush courtyard was the perfect backdrop for this couple’s classic-meets-modern style.

A Warm Future Ahead

After their wedding, Sara and Chris set their sights on a new adventure—moving somewhere warmer. Their dream led them to Austin, Texas, where they’ve embraced sunshine, new memories, a baby girl, and a life built together.

It’s easy to see why these two are so loved: their relationship is grounded in laughter, mutual respect, and genuine friendship. And as a fellow Murder, She Wrote fan, I have to say—Sara has impeccable taste in both TV and life partners. Congrats on 4+ years of marriage, Sara & Chris!
